One Step Sparring
For each technique, the person who will execute
the defensive sequence will start in the ready position. The person
who will attack will assume sparring position with right foot
back, left low block, front stance. The attacker will then step
forward and execute the punch called for by the defender in front
stance. After the defender has completed his maneuver, the attacker
will return to sparring position to prepare for the next technique.

Low Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right low punch
2. Defender: step back with right leg, into a front stance with
left low block.
3. Defender: right middle punch and then follow up with right
front snap kick to midsection.
Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: slides to the left and forward a 45 degree angle,
blocking the punch with a left hand outside-inside middle block.
3. Defender: double punch: first with right middle punch and then
left high punch.
Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step back with left foot into a back stance and block
with right inside-outside middle block. Do not grasp attacker's
hand after block.
3. Defender: right front side kick to attacker's midsection.
Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: slide to the right and forward a 45 degree angle
into a horse back stance with left inside-outside middle block.
3. Defender: double punch: first with right middle punch and then
left high punch.
High Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step back with right leg into a left front stance
and block with left high block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with left hand and then move
the attacker's arm outward to the left and then downward in a
circular motion counterclockwise.
4. Defender: right high punch to face and right roundhouse kick
to midsection.

Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step back with left leg into a back stance and block
with right outside-inside knifehand block.
3. Defender: right inside-outside knifehand strike to attacker's
neck
4. Defender: right elbow strike
Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step left into a horse back stance with right inside-outside
knifehand block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with right hand
4. Defender: right roundhouse kick to midsection and without setting
the foot down, pull back and execute a right side kick to attacker's
right knee joint
5. Defender: right front stance and then left high punch
Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: slide to the right and forward a 45 degree angle
with simultaneous left inside-outside middle block and right knifehand
strike to attacker's neck
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with left hand
4. Defender: step right foot forward between attacker's legs and
perform a right elbow strike to attacker's face.
5. Defender: pull attacker's arm down with left hand while reversing
the right elbow strike direction (this time from inside to outside)
High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step back with right leg into a left front stance
with left high block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with left hand and turn the
arm outward and downward in a counterclockwise circular motion
and execute a right palm heel strike to attacker's chin
4. Defender: grasp the attacker's uniform with right hand and
step in with right foot (behind attacker's right foot) and trip
the attacker to the floor
5. Defender: release uniform and right punch to attacker's face.
The defender should maintain their hold on the attacker at all
times.
High Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step back with left foot into a right front stance
and right high block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with right hand, twist it
outward and downward in a clockwise circular motion
4. Defender: step in with left foot, the execute a left elbow
strike to attacker's elbow joint
5. Defender: grasp attacker's right wrist with both hands and
step back into a right back stance
6. Defender: right front snap kick to midsection

1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step back with right leg into a left back stance
3. Defender: block attacker's punch with an outside-inside crescent

4. Defender: without setting the foot down, execute right side
kick to midsection

High Punch - Kicking Technique
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step to right and execute right jumping front snap
kick
3. Defender: double punch with right punch to midsection and then
left punch to head
High Punch - Kicking Technique
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step left foot back into a right back stance and
execute a right front side kick to midsection
3. Defender: left jumping back kick to midsection
Middle Punch - Kicking Technique
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: block with left inside-outside crescent kick
3. Defender: right jumping roundhouse kick to attacker's head
4. Defender: double punch: with right punch to midsection and
then left punch to head

1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: block with left inside-outside crescent kick
3. Defender: right roundhouse kick to attacker's head
4. Defender: left spin kick to attacker's head

Middle Punch

left inside-outside knifehand middle block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with left hand
4. Defender: right inside-outside knifehand strike to attacker's
neck and grasp attacker's right shoulder using the same hand
5. Defender: pull attacker's upper body to parallel to ground
and left knee lift to attacker's rib cage
6. Defender: release attacker's should and execute a right elbow
strike to the base of attacker's neck
Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step right and execute right outside-inside knifehand
block
3. Defender: right inside-outside knifehand strike to attacker's
neck
4. Defender: left middle punch and then right roundhouse kick
to midsection
High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step back with right leg into a left front stance
and block with left high block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with left hand and twist it
in a circular counterclockwise motion and right middle punch to
midsection
4. Defender: without moving feet location, drop to right knee
and use right hand to grasp and sweep attacker's right leg
5. Defender: release ankle and execute a right outside-inside
knifehand strike to attacker's neck
Middle Punch - Kicking Technique
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: block with left outside-inside crescent kick
3. Defender: right jumping spinkick to attacker's head
4. Defender: upon landing, immediately execute a right roundhouse
kick to attacker's head
Middle Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: slide to left and forward at a 45 degree angle and
execute a left palm heel strike to attacker's elbow. Immediately
grasp the attacker's arm with same hand
3. Defender: right ridgehand strike to attacker's throat
4. Defender: grasp the uniform of the attacker with right hand
and trip the attacker down with right foot
5. Defender: release the attacker and execute a double punch:
right punch and then left punch to head

Middle Punch
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step left and forward at a 45 degree angle countering
the punch with a left palm heel strike to attacker's elbow. Do
not grasp the arm.
3. Defender: right elbow strike to attacker's rib cage performing
the strike with the forearm side of the elbow not the point of
the elbow
4. Defender: slide right foot up to meet the left. With both feet
together perform a right inside-outside knifehand strike to attacker's
neck
5. Defender: right jumping side kick to attacker's rib cage
High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step to the left and execute a right roundhouse kick
to attacker's rib cage
3. Defender: right knife hand strike to attacker's neck and immediately
grasp the bak of the attacker's collar
4. Defender: place the outside right edge of the foot into the
attacker's right knee behind the kneecap then pull the attacker's
collar backward and downward while finishing the right kicking
motion
5. Defender: left punch to attacker's head
Double High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step right foot back into a left front stance with
left high block
3. Attacker: left high punch
4. Defender: right high block
5. Defender: grasp attacker's left wrist with right hand and twist
the arm with clockwise circular motion.
6. Defender: when attacker's arm is at the "six o'clock"
position, grasp the wrist with both hands and continue the circular
motion up and over your head.
7. Defender: after takedown, release left hand and execute a left
knifehand strike to attacker's neck
Middle Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right middle punch
2. Defender: step right foot back into a left back stance
3. Defender: left outside-inside middle block
4. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with left hand
5. Defender: pivot on the left foot moving the right foot around
in a clockwise circular path, turning the entire body until the
defender's body faces the opposite direction from the attacker's
body and get into a short horseback stance
6. Defender: right elbow strike to attacker's rib cage
7. Defender: bring right arm up and over attacker's right arm
and execute a ridge hand strike to attacker's throat
8. Defender: grasp the attacker's uniform with right hand and
trip attacker with right foot.
9. Defender: release attacker's uniform and push attacker's elbow
using right hand
10. Defender: left punch to attacker's head
High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step right foot back into a left front stance and
use left high block
3. Defender: step forward with right leg to trip the attacker
but before the actual tripping motion, the defender will grasp
the attacker's wrist with left hand and push attacker's elbow
with right hand (in a hinge motion)
4. Defender: after takedown, release own right hand and grasp
the attacker's wrist with both hands then pull away from attacker
while forcing the point of attacker's elbow towards the ground
5. Defender: release right hand and execute a right knifehand
strike to attacker's neck
High Punch - Kicking Technique
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step left foot back into a right front stance and
block with right high block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with right hand
4. Defender: twist the attacker's arm in a clockwise circular
motion until attacker's arm is parallel to the ground.
5. Defender: step forward with left foot and execute an left elbow
strike into a left front stance
6. Defender: slide left leg out and execute a left jumping front
snap kick to midsection.
7. Defender: left middle punch to same location
High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step left foot back into a right front stance and
block with right high block
3. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist with right hand
4. Defender: step up with left leg and execute a left palm heel
strike into the armpit of the attacker in an upward left to right
direction. Leave left hand planted under attacker's shoulder.
5. Defender: move left foot into a position adjacent to the inside
right ankle of the attacker
6. Defender: sweep left leg back while using the left hand to
lift the attacker's shoulder up and over in a circular clockwise
direction. This should leave the attacker face down on the ground
with the defender in control of the attacker's right hand.
7. Defender: place left knee on attacker's elbow and execute a
left knifehand strike to attacker's neck
High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step to left and block with a right knifehand block
3. Defender: grasp wrist with right hand
4. Defender: twist the arm in a clockwise circular motion
5. Defender: step right leg forward and sweep the right leg of
the attacker by pulling across your body the attacker's wrist
6. Defender: left punch to attacker's head
Double High Punch - Takedown
1. Attacker: step forward with right high punch
2. Defender: step right foot back into a left front stance with
left high block
3. Attacker: left high punch
4. Defender: right high block
5. Defender: grasp attacker's wrist using right hand
6. Defender: twist the attacker's arm in a clockwise circular
motion to a position between the two opponents. Step right leg
forward to the left and continue the clockwise motion until the
arm is directly over the defender's head
7. Defender: step through with left leg ending up in a front stance
facing the direction he just came from. As this is being accomplished,
the defender will drop to a kneeling position on his left knee
and at the same time pulling on the attacker's arm in a downward
motion effectively "flipping" him to the floor.
8. Defender: straighten out attacker's arm (keeping the twisting
tension throughout) and lever it against the right knee.
9. Defender: left knifehand strike to attacker's neck
